Green Apple (cocina buffet)
A Palermo institution where plant-based cooking finally gets the seasoning it deserves: load up your tray at the pay-by-weight buffet and eat like you mean it. Not everything on the counter is vegan, so ask as you go, and check the hours before you make the trip.
What to order
- 1 Buffet selection (load up and weigh)
- 2 Whatever the warm grain or legume dish of the day is
- 3 Any house-seasoned vegetable sides
Insider tip
This place closes at 15:00 and shuts entirely Sunday through Tuesday, plan a Wednesday-to-Saturday lunch window or you'll be staring at a locked door. Arrive closer to opening than closing for the fullest spread. Worth knowing: this is not an all-vegan kitchen, so say you are vegan when you order rather than assuming.
The area
Palermo is the most restaurant-dense neighbourhood in the city, Palermo Soho and Hollywood have a place on every block worth considering, and a few that are worth crossing the city for.
